Amazon and SAS announced a comprehensive partnership, and now the preferred cloud of SAS is Microsoft Azure. Now different products of SAS will have deep integrations with the cloud portfolio of Microsoft, such as Azure, Dynamics 365 and PowerBI. To fulfill the different needs of the customers, both companies have planned to provide new solutions jointly.
Everyone must understand that SAS is an enterprise data management and analytics company, not the airline.
“It is a technology partnership,” SAS COO and CTO Oliver Schabenberger told ahead of announcement. “Our customers are increasingly moving to the cloud. I have something that I call the ‘principles of analytics.’ The first principle is: analytics follows the data — and increasingly, data is moving to the cloud. We have our own cloud operation at SAS. We have done enterprise hosting for over 20 years and have a lot of experience in that. So one of the strategic questions that I asked myself is how do we combine what we love so much about our own cloud and managed services and working directly with a customer with the scale, the agility, and the reach of a public cloud?”
SAS is in the market for over four decades, provided services to 90+ of the top 1000 Fortune companies – So they have an extensive customer base. Some of their well-known and reputed customers are:
- Lockheed Martin
To turn their analytics actionable, SAS provides multiple tools and services to these companies – That too at a wide range. The focus is on supporting these organizations to work better with respect to managing their data. This whole work includes a lot of machine learning too. So SAS looks highly motivated to use this partnership and drive their integration from their own perspective.
