Facebook has to do more efforts to get rid of racism on its platforms. The company has planned to set up two groups for the purpose of examining their algorithms as well as the policies. Same is the case with Instagram, and they will look to sort out the biasedness in their policies and algorithms to make their platform safe and fair.
Many times, Facebook is criticized for its failure to block the posts of different racial groups that are the cause of hate between different people. An extensive number of people complained about the suppression of black people on Instagram.
Vishal Shah, Vice President of Product, Instagram said, “The racial justice movement is a moment of real significance for our company. Any bias in our systems and policies run counter to providing a platform for everyone to express themselves. While we’re always working to create a more equitable experience, we are setting up additional efforts to continue this progress.”
According to Facebook, how groups will work would be most probably shared in the coming months.
In addition to the initiatives of Facebook and Instagram, another company Snapchat has also launched its investigation to remove racism within the company.
