Apple aims to achieve the goal to become carbon-neutral operational by 2030. The company has the commitment to cover its whole supply chain as its all products lifecycle. This also includes the electricity consumed in it.
It is now the objective of the company to make use of renewable energy that also includes the projects built as well as funded by the company. As a whole, this is 1GW of the capacity of Apple’s corporate operations.
According to the official statement of Tim Cook, Apple Chief Executive, “The innovations powering our environmental journey are not only good for the planet, they’ve helped us make our products more energy-efficient and bring new sources of clean energy online around the world.”
“Climate action can be the foundation for a new era of innovative potential, job creation, and durable economic growth. With our commitment to carbon neutrality, we hope to be a ripple in the pond that creates a much larger change.”
Apple is heavily investing in the racial equity as well as the justice initiative on smaller businesses that can help in the cleanup of its supply chain. The announced funds are 100 million dollars (78.5 million pounds).
Apple environmental lead stated that “Systemic racism and climate change are not separate issues and they will not abide separate solutions.”
