“Sharing an article can spark conversation, so you may want to read it before you tweet it,” Twitter said in a statement. “To help promote informed discussion, we’re testing a new prompt on Android – when you retweet an article that you haven’t opened on Twitter, we may ask if you’d like to open it first.”
Rethink Before Sharing – Feature only For Android
Twitter actually wants you to read all the stories before sharing it. That’s true, sharing an article sometimes leads to a long conversation. This feature can help people to rethink – the article or story may be a hate speech or anything misleading. Currently, this feature is only for Android users.
For many years, Twitter along with many other social networks has an extensive number of misleading news or claims. This is now almost a regular activity of many users to drive traffic to multiple sources.
This decision may help in slowing down the process of spreading fake news.
If you haven’t click on the post and trying to share it, Twitter will ask a question of confirmation. One can go ahead and share it. All Twitter wants is to avoid spreading misinformation or at least slowing it down.
